A number of cars on board suffered light damage i.e. dents and scratches. We wait to see if the cars will be repaired or crushed.

I'll place money that the shipping company's insurance will already have written off the total cargo. Small chance they'll be sold to recover some costs, but possibly not title-able. All speculation, as you say, it'll be interesting to see the outcome. To be honest that's far less damage that I expected based on the angle the boat was sitting at

I'm guessing they'll all be crushed regardless because product liability.
I'm a bit surprised they're still driveable but they would have been individually chained down.

Even the ones without visible damage probably spilled fluids all over the engine after sitting almost sideways for so long. I'd be surprised if any of them are sold to the public.

For liability purposes, they'll all be crushed, even if some are totally undamaged or easily repairable. They won't even allow any parts to be removed and sold, in the off chance that someone down the line blames a crash or any fault on whatever hidden damage might have been done by the grounding and listing.

This is going to be like the MV Cougar Ace all over again - each and every one of those cars will be brutally murdered on the orders of the insurance company that paid out on the load and due to the litigious nature of modern society.

Eh - some auction company should buy the lot, do the repairs, provide the documentation, and auction them off. Sans warranty - they'd still make money.
